Below are all the weapons in the game ranked from most powerful to least powerful. They will be judged based on power, skill, and abilities. All weapons will be placed under ranks, from Rank S to Rank C. Rank S weapons are the most powerful with well-rounded skills, while Rank C weapons are not preferred. Any weapon in between is useful as well, but it would be best to use a weapon in the higher ranks to reap the benefits.
Rank S – Great Sword, Long Sword, Bow
- Great Sword – The Great Sword is a well-balanced weapon, and can be used for both offense and defense. Its Switch Skill, Surge Slash Combo, is great to create multiple offensive attacks, while its Silkbind, Strongarm Stance, helps fortify your armor and weapon for a defensive stance.
- Long Sword – Similar to the Great Sword, the Long Sword is another great melee weapon. Sacred Sheathe Combo Switch Skill is attuned to your Spirit Gauge and increases damage about that. Its Silkbind Harvest Moon helps replenish your Spirit Gauge using the Ironsilk ring.
- Bow – For ranged attacks, you can’t go wrong with the simple Bow. The Stake Thrust switch skill projects an explosive arrow at the enemy, while Butcher’s Bind Silkbind uses an arrow bound with Ironsilk.
Rank A – Switch Ax, Insect Glaive, Light Bowgun, Dual Blades
- Switch Ax – The Switch Ax is great for shifting between heavy and light attacks, and also gives improved mobility. The Morph Slash Combo switch skill gives you versatility, switching between sword and ax mode. The Elemental Burst Counter Silkbind releases an Elemental Burst relating to the Switch Gauge.
- Insect Glaive – The Insect Glaive has a unique skill, where it summons Kinsects to help you in battle. The Kinsect Slash switch skill lets you thrust forward and absorb extract, also letting you advance your technique with Enhanced Insect Spiker. The Awakened Kinsect Attack silkbind hurls a Kinsect to extract as well as cause damage.
- Light Bowgun – For hunters who prefer long-range attacks. The Critical Firepower switch skill increases damage output and recoil but reduces firing distance. The Wyvern Counter silkbind uses a wirebug to stop the massive recoil, great for evading attacks.
- Dual Blades – A melee weapon great for combo slash attacks. The Slide Slash combo switch skill gives you increased evade while placing deadly combo attacks. Spiral Slash Silkbind launches you forward to pierce your enemy and drill through them.
Rank B – Heavy Bowgun, Charge Blade, Sword, and Shield
- Heavy Bowgun – Has immense firepower and has two ammo types. The Crouching Shot switch skill helps fire in rapid succession but induces a temporary immovable stance. The Setting Sun silkbind uses a wirebug to generate Ironsilk which lets ammo pass through it.
- Charge Blade – Similar to the Switch Ax, it can be used as both a sword and an ax. The Phial switch skill with Firing Pin follow-up uses elemental boost with lower pressure that disappears from the enemy over time but can be detonated in ax mode. The Ready Stance silkbind binds the sword and ax with Ironsilk which helps with guarding.
- Sword and Shield – Great for both offense and defense. The Twin Blade Combo switch skill is a two-part attack with a circular slash and a blade thrust. The Destroyer Oil silkbind uses a wirebug to coat your sword, which ignites when there is friction between the sword and shield, causing monsters to flinch and create openings.
Rank C – Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Lance
- Hammer – Creates blunt force attacks. The Spinning Bludgeon Charge switch skill stores up power from the Spinning Bludgeon and releases it during the next charge switch attack. The Impact Burst silkbind coats your weapon in ironsilk that can cause shockwaves and flinch monsters.
- Hunting Horn – Using melodies to create attacks and buff your party. The Swinging Combo switch skill helps you attack with the horn from the left and right, helping you switch directions easily. The Silkbind Shockwave wraps the horn in ironsilk which creates shockwaves.
- Gunlance – a combination of gun and cannon. The Erupting Cannon switch skill fires an explosive stake which heats your lance, enabling increased melee damage. The Bullet Barrage silkbind helps blast dash towards the enemy using the wirebug, which unleashes every ammo type currently loaded.
- Lance – is great for defense if you wish to avoid being on the frontlines. The Shield Tacke switch skill helps in thrusting attacks with your shield while also offering a defense. The Skyward Thrust silkbind makes a wirebug launch you into the air and slam to the ground, inflicting AoE damage.
