Madden NFL 23 has had its fair share of bugs since launch, and now players are running into an unexpected bug where they are not able to sign the new contract to join a new team in Faces of the Franchise. If they try to sign it, the game would either reboot, log them out, crash, or just face an error where the contract cannot be signed. This issue is seen across all platforms, and players are coming forth to find out a suitable fix for it.
This issue is widespread, and many players have come forward saying they all face the issue of being unable to sign a new contract in Faces of the Franchise. So far there is no response from EA, and the bug is still rampant in Madden 23.
There are a few things you can try out that may help you get past the contract bug, and you can go through the following steps below.
PC
- Repair the Game: You can try to repair the game through the Origins client by going to your game library, right-clicking on Madden 23, and clicking Repair.
- Clear Cache: You can try clearing the cache and trying the game again by going to the Run command and typing in %temp%. Delete all the files under the Temp folder. You can also open the Run command and type in %AppData%. Under the Roaming Folder, delete the Origins folder.
- Update Drivers: If your Windows and Graphics Drivers updates are lagging, then you will have to update them and try playing the game.
- Disable Overlays: If you have an overlay running in the background then you can disable it and try playing the game again.
- Disable Firewall/ Antivirus: You should check if your antivirus or firewall is hampering your gameplay, then you can either disable it or put the game in the whitelist.
- Uninstall and Reinstall: You can also try to uninstall and reinstall the game to see if it helps.
Console
- Check for Updates: You can check if your console and game are lagging in updates which makes it unable to play it.
- Clear Cache: Shut down your console, unplug it, and wait for a couple of minutes. Plug the console back in and turn it on. Play Madden 23 to see if it helps.
- Use Ethernet Cable: Using an Ethernet cable, a Mobile Hotspot, or using a different network can help.
- Remove other connected devices: If any other device is hooked up to the USB ports on your console, then you can disconnect them and try again.
- Change DNS Settings: Changing the DNS settings may help you fix the game. You can use Google DNS by changing the primary to 8.8.8.8 and secondary to 8.8.4.4.
Most players were able to sign the contract after a while of persistent trying, while one player found out that going to the yard and then going back to career helped them sign the contract. If the above tips don’t help, it is best to contact the customer support team and raise the issue with them.

Update: 03 Sep 2022
The version of Madden 23 is titled “Face of the Franchise: The League,” and as soon as you start playing the game, you will notice extreme changes immediately. One of the key differences is that your player will not enter the NFL as a rookie and there won’t be any college or high school games, and also, there will not be any scouting combined.
Unfortunately, many players recently report an issue where their game freezes in a contract signing loop in the “Face of the Franchise” game mode.
In the Face of the Franchise mode, the player doesn’t extend his contract with his team in the middle of the season. Instead, players pick up a contract from an NFL team at the year’s end during the resignation period.
Once this period ends, the player can have an option to choose any of the 30 NFL teams. But this feature has an issue where players cannot have a new contract, and they are stuck in a loop. Furthermore, when players try to sign a new contract, the game starts crashing, logging out of the player, restarting, or taking them back to the main menu.
This issue is not limited to any gaming platform, which is quite frustrating. Thankfully, the EA support team has acknowledged the issue on their official Twitter page.
They are investigating the matter, so hopefully, we will have a solution soon.

I am currently experiencing this same contract issue for the past 3 days. Tried everything except the uninstall. Very frustrating.
I had this problem. I noticed the problem is with signing more than 2 year with a team. Once i selected a 2 year contract I was able to keep playing.
Hey, can you please try to give me an estimated time for when it will be fixed?
Hello! There is currently no ETA on the fix, but as mentioned above, EA is aware of the issue and are actively working on it. Stay tuned to this page and we will update the post if there is any progress.
