The Cursed Blade is the latest free-to-play 4-star weapon added in this Genshin Impact 2.8 Patch. It’s being given for free as part of Kazuha’s story quest and is currently his own sword in the Genshin lore. Lore weapons usually aren’t the best-in-slot for their respective characters- that said Genshin’s recently made a habit of releasing 5-stars with their signature weapon which is not only their lore weapon but also their best-in-slot.
Kazuha too got his own signature 5-star weapon but surprisingly that wasn’t lore-accurate. His cutscenes showed him using the only katana model weapon- the Fillet Blade which is only a 3-star and whose passive doesn’t synergize with Kazuha’s kit. As such perhaps HoYoVerse felt compelled to give him a katana-esque weapon that works with his kit.
Cursed Blade Synergy with Kazuha in Genshin Impact
The Cursed Blade is sadly an average sword for Kazuha. While it does work with his kit, it forces him to be a typical DPS dependent on ATK% and Crit bonuses which already reduces Kazuha’s value by a ton. The main stat of this weapon is ATK% and it goes up to a maximum of 41.3% ATK and 510 Base ATK at level 90.
Its passive is dependent on normal, charged, and plunging attack hits which trigger an AoE “Hewing Gale” which deals physical damage equal to 180% of a character’s ATK and increases ATK% of that character by 15% for 8 seconds. On paper, it already does not look good for Kazuha as he does not benefit from this much ATK%. Even if we consider building him as a physical DPS or just casual main-DPS, swords like Prototype Rancour and Amenoma Kageuchi are much better suited for those roles respectively.
The Cursed Blade has stats similar to The Flute but it is better than the Flute since there’s no RNG in its passive and its users are confirmed to get that bonus attack and damage every 8 seconds. For now, the only character this weapon seems decent on is Qiqi due to her healing scaling on her ATK stat.
