Raft is a Survival Game published by Axolot Games and created by Redbeet Interactive. Your aim, whether alone or with the company, is to survive an epic oceanic journey across a treacherous sea! Gather trash to live, grow your raft, and be aware of the ocean’s dangers!
Players wake on a huge, blue ocean completely alone and with no shore in sight, trapped on a little raft with nothing but an old plastic hook. Survival will be difficult with a dry throat and an empty stomach.
Our guide will teach you all about locating the important resource: Clay, for creating Bricks.

What is Clay used for?
First and foremost, clay is combined with sand to create Wet Bricks. Wet Bricks must be put on the surface of your Raft; they will dry and become Dry Bricks over time. The Dry Bricks may then be used to construct critical crafting stations such as the Smelter and Electric Smelter.
Aside from bricks, clay is utilised in a variety of other recipes, including the Beehive, Healing Salve, and Good Healing Salve. However, for the most part, you’ll be employing Clay to produce Dry Bricks – at least at the beginning of the game.
Getting Clay in Raft
Clay may be obtained in Raft by:
- Sailing to an island,
- Anchoring your Raft
- Excavating the greyish clumps of Clay that can be found underwater.
You’ll need a Hook (such as the Plastic Hook) in your hand; once you have it, just left-click while your cursor is above the Clay deposit to collect it. (As usual, keep an eye out for the Shark!)
Clay is best obtained in Raft by digging it up in the shallow seas surrounding an island. That may be straightforward enough, but you’ll have to deal with the Shark all the while you’re obtaining it.
Keep your visits into the water short and your eyes open at all times — the Shark might be swimming right at you before you realise it. To discover more about the game, keep reading our Raft game guides.
