Like so many features in multiplayer games, Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM) is also a feature that has a group of fans rooting for it while others are against it. Most of the players who are against it are pros and high skilled players. While the benefits of the SBMM for a player with low skills are obvious, more skilled players complain they have to work extra hard as they are pitted against highly skilled players or players with an equal level of skill. They want a toggle-off button to disable the SMBB in Vanguard and multiplayer games at large. So, can you turn off Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM) in Call of Duty Vanguard? Keep reading to find out.
Call of Duty Vanguard – Can you Disable Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM)
The main complaint skilled players have with SBMM is that every match is a tough competition while they just want a casual match, which is understandable. However, if you were hoping for a button to switch off the SBMM; unfortunately, that’s not possible in Vanguard.
SBMM is a feature that appears to become a regular with CoD titles as with several other games. It’s disappointing news for players who are against skill-based matchmaking but there are some ways around it that can give you a slightly similar experience.
A no-brainer is to fake your skills. If you perform badly in a few matches, the game will automatically detect you as a low-skilled player and match you appropriately. But, going this route can be more frustrating than fun as you will find yourself in the same spot as you start to perform better with low-skilled players.
The other option is to disable crossplay. Various aspects of the game such as the aim assist for consoles can make the playing field uneven. By disabling the crossplay, you compete with players on the same platform and the game may be easier. The same can work for console players who complain PC players have better input thanks to the mouse. Another option you have is to join games hosted by your friends who may have lesser K/D ratios.
If you want the SBMM to be gone, there is bad news as it seems this feature is here to stay. Compared to skilled players, there is a larger majority that gains from the SBMM. To appease the majority, Activision will keep this feature in its games.
