Modern Warfare’s Gunfight mode is making a comeback to Modern Warfare 2, but rumor has it that it will not be available exactly at launch time.
The fan favorite mode that lets players engage in PvP close combat is supposedly a post launch feature. There is no estimated time frame for when Infinity Ward will reveal the feature, but it is confirmed to be included in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Gunfight mode gained popularity when introduced in Modern Warfare, where players can challenge other players in a 2v2 arena. They will be pitted against each other in a small map and under a 40-second time limit, where they will have to learn how to work under pressure and harness their weapon skills in order to secure the flag. Whoever manages to take out the opposing team wins the round. Also, the teams would have to choose the same class for 2 rounds, and it will change after that. There are a total of 6 rounds that players will be engaged in, and whoever emerges victorious will be the reigning champion.
Besides Gunfight, Modern Warfare 2 has confirmed that two new objective modes will be included in the upcoming game. Hostage and Knockout are two PvP modes that have a wider player base, with Hostage being 6v6 and Knockout being 2v2 / 3v3.
